Pomodoro Technique to get you to the weekend

Pomodoro Technique to get you to the weekend

Happy almost Easter break, my fellow procrastinators! I know you're probably feeling unmotivated and distracted due to the imminent free-eating-chocolate weekend just around the corner but, c’mon if you just get that report/spreadsheet/email answered, you can face your long weekend knowing there are no frogs to eat when you get back to work.

I know what you're thinking. "But Michelle, I'd rather be strapping my bunny ears on and hiding chocolate eggs around the office right now!" Trust me, I feel you, which is why the Pomodoro Technique is a way to get yourself working even when you don't want to be. Even for the last moments of your day! I should know, I’ve been using the technique all week and it’s working like.. well like it aways does: working great.

Okay the Pomodoro Technique is not new but it’s worth a reminder, because it does work:

  1. set a timer for 25 minutes

  2. commit to working on one task for the entire 25 minutes

  3. when the timer goes off take a quick break to stretch, grab a snack, or eat one of your Easter treats to celebrate your accomplishment then…

  4. rinse and repeat.

Search on the App Store or on YouTube for the “Pomodoro Technique” - lots of apps and videos of timers for free to try.

So go ahead, give the Pomodoro Technique a try if you’ve not used it before or haven’t for a long time. You might just surprise yourself with how much you can get done in a short burst of focus - even in the last few minutes of the day.

Happy Easter everyone; have a restful long weekend.
